Round 30 – Match Preview – Everton v Tottenham

Posted March 8th, 2012 by The Shirtman

March 10, Goodison Park

Back to Goodison Park this week where the surging Toffees (which actually sounds like a pretty good dessert) take on the suddenly slumping Spurs (which doesn’t) in a game that has some pretty big implications for both.

Round 29 – Match Preview – Liverpool v Arsenal

Posted February 29th, 2012 by The Shirtman

Anfield, Saturday March 3

A few good games to pick from this week, but we’ll be focusing on the Reds-Gunners clash at Anfield. Two proud and historic clubs who both have their eyes on greater things than they have achieved this season – this one looms as an action packed encounter between two clubs that are really on a roll.

Round 28 – Match Preview – Arsenal v Tottenham

Posted February 22nd, 2012 by The Shirtman

Sunday 26 February, Emirates Stadium

In life, there are certain folks who just don’t get along. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock. Kevin Rudd and the Labor Party. It can’t be helped. Some people just don’t like each other. That’s all there is to it.

Round 27 – Match Preview – FC Porto v Manchester City

Posted February 15th, 2012 by The Shirtman

February 17

It’s been a fun filled year for Porto so far, who have spent the season battling Benfica, (and apparently the ground staff at Benfica in an incident that led to 5 charges) for Liga supremacy. The real test for them however lies in Europa – a competition Porto has always punched above its weight in. They’ll need all the giant killing skills they possess here, taking on a Manchester City side that probably possesses more stars then the Liga combined.

Round 26 – Match Preview – Tottenham v Newcastle

Posted February 8th, 2012 by The Shirtman

Saturday February 11 – White Hart Lane

It was hard not to pick the United v Liverpool showdown as the match of the week this week – but we’ve had lots of Reds and Red Devils over the past month, and very little of the Spurs and the Toons. And apparently during that time we’ve been missing quite a show. Sitting third on fifth on the table respectively, Tottenham and Newcastle have shown they belong amongst the competition elite, and have been giving some of the bigger, deeper pocketed clubs a run for their money.

Round 25 – Match Preview – Chelsea v Manchester United

Posted February 1st, 2012 by The Shirtman

February 5, Stamford Bridge

It may not have quite the lustre of previous years, but there is still enough history, enough bad blood, enough talent and enough precociousness involved for the footballing world to take notice whenever Chelsea takes on United in the Premier League. Chelsea may not be the dominant force they were under Mourinho. United may not even be the best team in Manchester anymore. But if your blood doesn’t quicken a little at the thought of Chelski duking it out with the Red Devils then you may want to undergo the old Turing test when you next get a chance, because you my friend may very well be a robot.

Round 23 – Match Preview – Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur

Posted January 18th, 2012 by The Shirtman

Sunday, January 22 – Etihad Stadium

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Manchester City, who are learning quickly that life as the Premier League’s front runner is not easy. Teams are aiming up against them now. Calendars are circled weeks in advance. Major rivals are playing with extra passion, and contests can be bitter. In recent weeks they suffered back to back Cup losses (at home no less) to Manchester United and Liverpool. The days of wine and roses may well be coming, but they are not here yet.
